Simon receives ORAU junior faculty award

Prof. Anna Simon has been selected to receive one of thirty-five Ralph E. Power Junior Faculty Enhancement Awards from ORAU (Oak Ridge Associated Universities). The award is intended to enrich the research and professional growth of young faculty and result in new funding opportunities.

ORAU is 121-member university consortium that has a strategic partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Their goal is to bring together university faculty and students to collaborate on major scientific initiatives that help keep American on the leading edge of science and technology. One of ORAU’s historic purposes has been to assist member universities and their faculty, and this faculty enhancement award is in that tradition.

Prof. Simon’s is an experimental nuclear physicist who joined the University of Notre Dame's Department of Physics in July 2014. Her research focuses on nuclear astrophysics, in particular processes leading to production of proton-rich heavy nuclei.
