The student would work on the Double Chooz reactor neutrino experiment.
We need to validate a simulation program and to use it in the design
phase of the experiment. Validation consists of testing it against
available experimental data.
The other possibility would be to work on the BaBar experiment.
We are trying to search for branching ratios of charged and neutral
B mesons to final states containing strange baryons, like the lambda.
This involves sifting through a vast amount of data and developing
algorithms to effectively isolate small signals from backgrounds. |
