Search for Beyond Standard Model Physics in LArTPCs

Dr. Yun-Tse Tsai, SLAC

To address main questions in neutrino physics, such as violation of CP-invariance in lepton sector, neutrino mass ordering, and existence of an extra state of neutrinos, liquid-argon time projection chamber (LArTPC), a newly developed technology, is deployed for Short-Baseline Neutrino program (SBN) and Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE).  With their millimeter resolution and calorimetric information, LArTPCs can also extend the reach of physics beyond the Standard Model.

In my talk, I will briefly introduce a Standard Model neutrino cross section measurement, serving as the foundation of our understanding of LArTPC detectors.  Then I will discuss the search for heavy neutral lepton in the MicroBooNE experiment (part of the SBN program) and the prospect of detecting a class of models of dark matter in DUNE.
