Triton Source at Florida State University

Florida State University, in collaboration with the University of Tennessee Knoxville and Oakridge National Laboratory, have developed a Multi-Cathode Source of Negative Ions by Cesium Sputtering (MC-SNICS) at the John D. Fox Laboratory. This MC-SNICS is dedicated to the production of triton beams for use with unique nuclear physics experiments. A discussion of safety precautions, cathode production techniques, deuteron beam testing, the first commissioning attempt, and future plans will be presented.
