Mapping The Universe’s Largest Structures
Dr. Michael West

On large scales, matter is distributed in a vast, interconnected network of filaments, sheets, and voids known as the cosmic web. In this talk, I’ll show how clusters of galaxies provide a powerful probe of the cosmic web’s evolution. Comparison of observational results with numerical simulations suggests that coherent structures a billion light-years or more in size are expected in Cold Dark Matter (ΛCDM) cosmologies.
