Collon receives the Dockweiler Award

Prof. Philippe Collon is the recipent of this year's Dockweiler Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising. Faculty are nominated for this award by students and colleagues, and the recipient is selected by an interdisciplinary committee. Prof. Collon's award letter notes "the tremendous impact your individualized guidance and mentoring have had on the lives of Notre Dame undergraduates."

The award was established in 2007 through a gift form the Julia Stearns Dockweiler Charitable Foundation. It recognizes members of the full-time faculty or staff who ahve demonstrated a sustained commitment to Notre Dame undergraduates through outstanding menoring, academic advising, or career counseling services. The Provost will recognize Prof. Collon during the 2015 Commencement Exercises.

Prof. Collon is the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Department of Physics. In 2010 he was the recipient of the Rev. Edmund P. Joyce, C.S.C, Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. His research is in the area of experimental nuclear physics.
