Eclipse Watch Party!

-

Location: Irish Green

On Monday, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America from Mexico to Maine. South Bend is in the path, and will experience 97 percent of totality at 3:09 p.m.

Rain or shine, join us for our 2024 Eclipse Watch Party, both on the Irish Green and at the Regis Philbin Studio Theatre in the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, adjacent to the Irish Green.

  • Our outdoor viewing location on the Irish Green will include seven solar telescopes, a live eclipse feed showing totality across the path of the eclipse, complimentary eclipse glasses, and brief demonstrations by physics students so you can learn more about this unique eclipse
  • Our indoor viewing location at the Regis Philbin Studio Theatre, inside the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, will be open rain, clouds or sun. Watch a live feed of the eclipse plus learn more about this event from our experts.

Irish Green can be muddy! Please wear proper shoes and bring a lawn chair.

Paid parking is available in the garage at Eddy Street Commons, as well as the Walsh Visitor, Walsh Student, Joyce, and Baseball lots. ParkMobile is advised for guests that come prior to the end of our business day. Limited bookstore lot parking is also available for guests.

Reminder: Eclipse glasses must be worn at all times when looking at the sun during an eclipse

Free and open to the public! However, pre-register to help us with our planning.

Many thanks to the donors of our eclipse glasses: Amgen, Dyne Therapeutics, Notre Dame Research, the University of Notre Dame College of Engineering, College of Science, GameDay, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Supernova Club, and the Nieuwland Lecture Series.
