Piece by Piece: Reconstructing the puzzle beyond the Standard Model with the ATLAS Experiment

Dr. Jeff Dandoy
Postdoc, Department of Physics and Astronomy
University of Pennsylvania

Experimental observations at odds with the Standard Model of particle physics, including evidence of dark matter and the light mass of the Higgs boson, motivate a broad program of new physics searches and measurements at the Large Hadron Collider. Recent results from the ATLAS Collaboration are presented, reviewing the detector technologies and highlighting the evolution of searches towards well-motivated but increasingly rare models such as Electroweak Supersymmetry. Prospects for new discoveries will be enhanced by the High-Luminosity upgrade of the LHC, and the design and testing of the upgraded readout electronics for the ATLAS silicon charged-particle tracker are shown alongside promising new technologies for future colliders.
