The University of Notre Dame Department of Physics was named one of the 25 best undergraduate programs in physics for 2021 by Bachelor’s Degree Center.

Notre Dame’s physics program was 11th on the list, after schools including Stanford University and Harvard University, among others. Additionally, the Notre Dame department was ranked above physics programs at Brown University, Cornell University, and the University of Chicago in the list.

The organization ranks physics programs from among accredited institutions, “according to practical concerns for the student who wants a degree that will pay off: tuition cost, student satisfaction, and potential salary,” according to the website.

The organization noted that Notre Dame has both a general physics degree program as well as a physics in medicine program. The website added that both programs cover the basics of physics and how to apply physics knowledge across several areas.

“Being listed as a top department confirms what has been clear to me as Chair: our faculty, graduate students, and staff work very hard to provide a great undergraduate experience," said Peter Garnavich, chair of the Department of Physics.

According to email communications with the organization’s media manager, Ava Ellis, Bachelor’s Degree Center has been providing advice, resources and rankings on the best traditional and online bachelor’s programs since 2014.
