Research Professor, Department of Physics & Astronomy
Biography
2024-present: Research Professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Notre Dame
1993-2024: Physicist, Materials Science Division, Argonne National Laboratory
1991-1993: Visiting scientist, Kamerlingh Onnes Laboratory, Leiden University, The Netherlands
1986-1991: Researcher, Inst. of Solid State Physics, Chernogolovka, Russia
Research Interests
My major research objective is to develop theoretical concepts which advance our understanding of physical phenomena in materials, mostly superconductors. This includes developing analytical models and/or employing numerical simulations to describe experimental data and predict new physical phenomena.
Specific topics:
- Vortex pinning
- Vortex matter in layered superconductors
- Intrinsic Josephson effects in layered superconductors,
- Static and dynamic properties of Josephson vortex lattice
- Generation of terahertz electromagnetic waves by intrinsic Josephson junctions
- Multiple-band superconductivity
- Transport in antiferromagnetic metals
- Magnetic Superconductors
