Jenna Smith

Biography
Jenna Smith has teaching experience with a broad range of courses, audiences, and institutions. She has been teaching physics full-time since 2016 and held a variety of instructional roles in the decade before that.
At Notre Dame, Professor Smith directs the Engineering Physics labs and leads the Engineering Physics course transformation team in the department. Her recent interests have been in curriculum design, TA training, faculty development, and using AI tools in teaching.
Professor Smith received her PhD in nuclear physics from Michigan State University where she studied neutron-unbound systems with the Modular Neutron Detector. She followed this up with a post-doc appointment at with the GRIFFIN/TIGRESS group at TRIUMF before transitioning into full-time teaching. She is an author of more than 50 peer-reviewed publications.
